In the EU they are classified under the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272\/2008 into: Category 1A (known human evidence), 1B (presumed from animal data) and 2 (suspected). These classifications are used across chemical legislation and are the basis for cosmetic restrictions. <br \/>On July 19, 2023, the Commission adapted Regulation (2023\/1490), which amends Annex II of the Cosmetic Products Regulation to include substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction, in accordance with Delegated Regulation (2022\/692).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3b4c667 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3b4c667\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Categories at a glance<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div 1223\/2009<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section <strong data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1577\">substances classified as CMR (1A\/1B\/2)<\/strong> under the CLP are <strong data-start=\"1596\" data-end=\"1619\">in principle banned<\/strong> in cosmetic products.<br data-start=\"1641\" data-end=\"1644\" \/><strong data-start=\"1644\" data-end=\"1658\">Exceptions<\/strong> are limited and require strict conditions, including a <strong data-start=\"1714\" data-end=\"1739\">positive SCCS opinion<\/strong> on safety for the specific use; some <strong data-start=\"1777\" data-end=\"1791\">Category 2<\/strong> substances may be allowed if SCCS confirms safety.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5d8d3c5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5d8d3c5\"
